The 3 Things You Need To
Learn App Development Right Now

Let me know if this story sounds familiar to you:

Mike wanted to learn how to build iOS apps but there were so many different resources out there that he wasn’t sure which one to follow or where to start.

When he finally bit the bullet and bought a course on deep discount from one of the many learning platforms out there, he found out that the training material was out of date so he couldn’t follow it on his own computer.

Worse yet, he couldn’t even get a hold of the course instructor to ask questions. The student forum was a mess and contained more questions than answers.

Mike went on another learning platform and signed up for another iOS course only to find the same thing.

Let me tell you something:

Mike is a smart guy who isn’t new to learning new skills. He runs his own business and has even taught himself how to build his own websites with HTML and CSS.

The problem is that Apple changes things so quickly that it’s hard to navigate through all the information without a guide.

Every year:

There’s a new version of Xcode.
There’s a new version of Swift.
There are new features in the iOS SDK.

That’s a lot to keep up with!

Not Everyone Is Struggling Though

Take for example, Brian King who changed his career from law and finance to being the lead iOS developer :

Brian King studied law and finance in school. With his own hard work and persistence, he’s a lead iOS developer:

Or Ton, who had his app featured in the newspaper.

Ton built an app to find wheelchair accessible locations and got featured in the newspaper:

Ton Driessen

Or how about Macon, who learned how to build apps and started his own successful app business.

Macon and Judith’s app business has grown quite impressively since their first app:

Atomic Imagination

Here are a few more user testimonials:

Tim has tried many other courses and programs but failed. Now he’s finally picked up app development and he’s published 3 apps and counting:

Tony is a professor and it was a pleasure to have him in my class:

Jay is an entrepreneur who learned to code so that he didn’t have to rely on freelance developers to maintain his app:

Here are some of my students’ apps in the App Store:

Ton’s app was featured in the newspaper!

Brian presented his app on stage at the 2015 Health 2.0 Annual Fall Conference which is attended by over 15,000 people!

There’s no magic involved.

They used a simple formula that involves 3 key ingredients and their own hard work.

Once you know the formula, you can follow it and be just like them.

Imagine for a second:

– Imagine being able to build any app you want
– Imagine being able to read any documentation or tutorial and apply it to your own project
– Imagine taking advantage of new iOS features in your app as soon as Apple releases them

With the right guidance and learning path, you can!

You must be wondering, “What makes your training so special, Chris?”

Through My Own Failure, I’ve Developed A Learning Path That Anyone Can Use To Learn How To Build Apps

Believe or not, I delayed learning iOS programming for years. I made up all kinds of excuses like “I don’t have a Mac” or “I’ll start learning with I can get some free time”.

Finally, my boss forced me to learn how to build iOS apps for a client project (I was working in software consulting). I was given a month to learn and build this mission critical project for a Canadian news company.

It would be our client’s first foray into apps!

A part of me was nervous but I had learned new things under pressure and worked under tight deadlines before. This is the nature of consulting; you can learn a lot but the burn-out from working so hard is real.

I proceeded to read an iOS programming book from cover to cover. Once I was done, I thought I was ready to start on my important client project.

Boy was I wrong.

When I put my fingers on my keyboard. I literally didn’t know how to start.

I realized that even though I understood everything I was reading, it was different from actually doing it.

Time was ticking…

What Happened Next

I’m glad to say that this story has a happy ending:

  • The client loved the app
  • Through that app I built and many subsequent ones, I got a raise to 6 figures
  • The company I worked at merged with another larger one
  • I left and built CodeWithChris to teach others how to build apps

Forged From The Fires Of My Own Failure:

I was able to pick up iOS app development so quickly by actually practicing on smaller components and working my way up to the full app.

There was a lot of frustration, road blocks and late nights but in the end, it was worth it.

Most people would’ve given up in the face of so much hardship but my job was on the line so maybe that was actually a blessing for learning!

Out of this experience, I created a course that combines:

1. The step by step progression that was so successful for me.
2. An element of mentorship which is essential to get past the natural frustration of learning something new.

I vowed to become the mentor for beginners that I wish I had when I was learning iOS.

I released the first iteration of the course 3 years ago.

Since then it’s been updated many times and I’ve received so many positive comments and success stories from it.

Here’s Some Of the Feedback I Received:

I just wanted to tell you that the money I spent for your courses was definitely worth it!
I haven’t finished them all yet but I can already say that you explanations are brilliantly done, clear and organized.
– Alberto
Thank you Chris. I can’t believe how much I’ve learnt about iOS programming. Definitely past the point of no return! I’m going to start working on some of my own ideas for a few weeks at least to consolidate what I’ve learnt so far but I will definitely be purchasing the toolbox course very soon. See you on the next course mate!
– Brad
Well done Chris. Your swift course was exactly what I needed to feel confident in creating iOS apps. I look forward to the insights you’ll share in the Toolbox course. Thanks again!
– Brian

I’m not sharing this with you to brag

I just want to show you what’s possible.

The truth is, I know how hard it is to learn a new skill.

Along with outdated materials, absent teachers and yearly Apple updates, it’s a journey riddled with pitfalls.

Let me be clear:

It’s not impossible to learn on your own. In fact, tons of people have. Apple even has free documentation that you can read if you’re so inclined.

My learning path is simply a faster, more efficient and more enjoyable way to learn.

The “Secret” Formula?!

If you want to learn efficiently and make the most of every hour you spend, then follow this formula.

Ingredient #1

A Proven Learning Path

My learning path has been designed so that even people with no programming experience can follow it and become proficient with Swift coding and app construction in Xcode!

One of the biggest obstacles to learning iOS app development is the feeling of being overwhelmed with all of the information that’s available.

Rather than sifting through tutorials which use outdated versions of Swift or wasting time attempting to learn from tutorials that aren’t targeted for beginners, you can follow my step by step learning path.

This learning path starts with the basics and builds up your skills bit by bit, introducing new topics and incorporating them into real apps that you’ll build and be able to add to your portfolio.

You can even submit them to the App Store!

Ingredient #2

Up To Date Training Material

Every year, Apple releases the next version of Swift and a new version of Xcode (the program you’ll be using to build apps with).

Most of the material out there on the internet is outdated because it’s honestly hard to keep up with Apple and update all of your training material if you’re doing it for free.

I’ve already updated my course 3 times in the last 3 years of its existence and all updates have been free. My students really appreciate that about my course!

If you want to learn how to build apps in as little time as possible, you have to make sure you’re learning on up to date training materials which is exactly what you’ll get with my courses.

Furthermore, you’ll have a resource to come back to that is always up to date. As long as I update it, you’ll be getting the updates for free.

Ingredient #3

Mentoring and Support

Aside from just the efficient and up to date learning path, you will also receive my guidance and help as you learn.

It’s no wonder so many people fail at learning app development; They have to first find up to date training materials, then they have to be confident that they’re starting with the right material that isn’t too hard, then they have to overcome the frustration of solving their own coding errors and roadblocks.

With this course, I’ll be with you every step of the way and help you through your frustration so that you can learn from your mistakes and grow in your knowledge rather than getting frustrated and quitting.

Just to put into perspective how valuable this is, I don’t even offer consulting for any price.

If you’re a student of this course, you will get my personal attention to help you through the material!

Here’s an example of the discussion area below each lesson:

The Secret Ingredient

Your Own Desire To Learn

The last ingredient to your success is something that I can’t help you with:

You really have to want this.

If you don’t, close this window now because it’s going to be very hard to become good at building apps if you don’t want to learn a new skill.

It won’t be easy to learn something new. It never is!

But let me remind you that once have this skill, you’ll have the freedom to build anything you set your mind to.

The Way I See It, You Have Three Options

1. Find your own way

There’s tons of documentation and free tutorials out there but chances are you’ll be spending lots of time sifting through outdated materials and putting together a plan for yourself. It can be done!

2. Join an expensive bootcamp

These intense live bootcamps are full time programs often lasting several weeks. You’ll sit in a classroom, have live instructors, do group work and have one-on-one mentoring.

The problem with these programs is that you’ll have to carve out several weeks of time from work and family life to attend because these are full time curriculums that require you to be there 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

The other issue is that not everyone can afford these bootcamps because they routinely cost several thousand dollars to enroll.

3. Follow a proven learning path and gain a mentor

With my courses, the material will be delivered via streaming video and you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions below each lesson.

I don’t limit you on how many questions you can ask and there’s no limit to how long you take to go through the course.

You’ll always have access to the materials and I also keep the training material up to date so you can learn at your own pace and schedule.

Introducing The CodeWithChris
Complete Learning Path and Mentorship

The learning path is split up into two courses:

The beginner course covers the fundamentals such as reading/writing Swift code and using Xcode to build apps.

The intermediate course covers camera, gps and remote databases.

Together, they form the solid foundation you need to build your own apps.

Here’s What You’ll Learn In The Beginner Course:

In this course you’ll forge a solid foundation for building iOS apps.

You’ll know how to construct apps with multiple screens, create user interfaces and handle user interaction using Swift code (even if you’re absolute beginner with no programming experience).

By the end of this foundations course, you’ll be able to read and write Swift code, construct simple apps and have the confidence to further their studies in iOS development.

Essentially, the goal of this beginner course is to get you past what I call “The Hump”.

This is the point on the learning curve where:

  • You realize that things are more difficult than you thought.
  • You encounter your first frustrating road block and you don’t know how to proceed.
  • You feel helpless and lost.
  • You feel like maybe coding just isn’t the thing for you.

The Hump is where 99% of the people give up.

Well, let me tell you that everyone who has successfully built an app has gone through that point.

This course will help you sail past “The Hump”.

Module 6
Xcode Debugging

Xcode Debugging

In this special debugging module, you’ll watch over my shoulder as I debug, troubleshoot and fix issues in students’ Xcode projects.

This is an essential skill to learn whether you’re planning to build your own apps or to look for a full time iOS developer job. You must be able to resolve your own roadblocks.

Watching over my shoulder, you’ll learn about my thought process and how I approach a problem. Where I look and what Xcode debugging tools I use to tease out the real problem.

Module 7
Swift Programming Language

This is a special module dedicated to learning the various features, concepts and structures of the Swift programming language.

I’ve planned out the modules above so that you pick up Swift along the way when building out real apps.

However I found that some students prefer to get some extra practice with Swift syntax and coding before proceeding.

That’s what this module is for!

At this point, you’ll be comfortable with Xcode and Swift. After building 4 apps, you’ll have a solid grasp of what it takes to build an app.

You may already have everything you need to build their own app idea already! If not, you’ll have a good idea of how to start it and you’ll be able to seek out other tutorials on specific features and apply it to your own project.

Thanks Chris, It has been an exciting experience and terribly productive, it am certain that teaching is one of your missions in life.
It’s probably the best course I’ve taken in my life.
Now, I’ll go for more. Cheers!
– David
I just wanted you to know how much your clear and useful tutorials helped me create this first app. I’ve already come up with ideas for new projects and can’t wait to continue down this path
– Sharon

Here’s What You’ll Learn In The Intermediate Course:

The second part of the learning path (the intermediate course) focuses on working with remote databases.

You’ll be able to build apps that allow user registration and login, saving of user details and user generated data. We’ll be using the popular Firebase platform to get up and running quickly.

Let me tell you this course did not disappoint! I’m accustomed to sitting through lectures and interactive lessons with college professors with PhD’s, and I can say with confidence that Chris is equally as strong of a teacher as many of my professors are. He was very precise with every word he spoke, and his videos were very well thought out and organized.
I would recommend this course to anybody interested in picking up the basics of Swift and Xcode, regardless of your skill level. After taking this course, I am confident that I can build almost any app I can dream of!
– Jake
I want to say thank you for this course. I feel empowered to release my creativity that was bundled up because of my lack of understanding how to implement my app ideas. You have guided me through the frustration of taking classes and still not understanding. I am a student as long as you are a teacher!

Here’s what students are saying about the course:

I just wanted to tell you that the money I spent for your courses was definitely worth it!
I haven’t finished them all yet but I can already say that you explanations are brilliantly done, clear and organized.
– Alberto
This course was the changing point in my attempt to learn iOS development. Although I have a programmer background (PLSQL) and had read the entire Swift manual I was still at a loss on how to put things into practice. The Code With Chris course pulled everything together for me in a clear and fun way. I recently released my very first iPhone app and I owe most of that to what I learned in the course. Thank you so much for creating such a user friendly, easy to understand course.
– Franklin
Hi Chris!
I just want to say thank you so much for this amazing course! I have learned a lot, you really are a great teacher!
See you in the next course! 😀
-Claude
Whooo! Just finished the first course. Thank you so much Chis, your lessons are great! Now I will start building and I am pretty sure that I will come back for a the next one. Maby even a SpriteKit course in the future? Thanks again, now I will have a beverage and enjoy the sight of my badges 🙂
– Myriam
Hey Chris,
Finally did it. 3rd time lucky. I felt as though I’m leaving a school after successfully graduating. I will miss the classes but you have definitely helped me with a firm foundation. Your work is good as gold and will vouche for you anywhere any time.
Cheers,
Madhan
Chris, thank you for taking the time and expending the effort to create these courses. They are outstanding and I’m sure there will be many successful developers who otherwise would not have made it if it where not for these courses. The fact that you show every minute of the development process with no gaps and nothing missing eliminates the frustration and wasted time that can make learning something this complex drudgery. I enjoyed every minute, feel like I’ve really accomplished something, and, since I purchased the bundle, look forward to the starting toolbox course. Thanks, again. Great job!
– Bernie
Chris, excellent job. The quality of these lessons is magnificent and the content and presentation second to none. I haven’t programmed for over 10 years and even though I did remember a few of the concepts there is no way I would have gotten through and completed 4 apps on my own. I have some app ideas to continue my learning before building some for the App store and I’ll be using these lessons to help me and joining your toolbox course to power me through. I’ll be sure to post them up for you. Keep up the great work and thank you so much.
– Peter
Thank you Chris. I can’t believe how much I’ve learnt about iOS programming. Definitely past the point of no return! I’m going to start working on some of my own ideas for a few weeks at least to consolidate what I’ve learnt so far but I will definitely be purchasing the toolbox course very soon. Well done Chris. Your swift course was exactly what I needed to feel confident in creating iOS apps. I look forward to the insights you’ll share in the Toolbox course. Thanks again!
– Brian
Fantastic course, Chris!! I really enjoyed this one. I followed your Objective-C course last year and that one was also great. On to the Toolbox course and hopefully an OS-X programming course after that, if you’re planning on creating one! 😉

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between your YouTube videos and this course?

Thank you for watching my YouTube videos! My lessons on YouTube are usually one-off tutorials or short series whereas all of the lessons in these two courses have been carefully crafted into an efficient and fun learning path for a beginner.

The other big difference is that as a student of my paid course, you’ll receive support and guidance from me. I’ll be your mentor to learn iOS app development.

On YouTube, many questions go unanswered simply because my time is prioritized for students of my paid courses.

Will the courses be updated as Xcode and Swift changes?

Yes! I need to keep them updated anyways if I’m going to continue selling them and all existing students get the updated content for free.

Will I have lifetime access to the videos?

Yes! They’ll always be there if you need to refer to them in the future and I keep them updated too.

How will the lessons be delivered?

Once you sign up, you’ll be able to login to the members area of my site and there you’ll find all of the lessons delivered via streaming video.

Below each lesson is an area for discussion and Q&A.

Will I be able to download the videos?

At this time, unfortunately not but this will be available soon to existing members.

When does the course start or end?

The course is self-paced so you can learn at your own leisure and schedule.

There’s no time limit for finishing the course.

Will I be able to get your help with my own project?

I can offer some guidance and direction with personal projects but unfortunately due to my time being spent helping students with the material in the course, I can’t look into or help debug personal project files.

This doesn’t mean that I don’t do it because I have done it for a few students in the past but it really depends on how much free time I have after handling the Q&A for the course material.

Unfortunately, I can’t afford your courses. Can you offer any discounts?

I realize that not everyone can afford to purchase this course so I’ve made some payment plans available.

My course isn’t the cheapest you can find out there but it’s definitely the right investment if you want to learn how to build apps.

You get free lifetime updates, even as Swift and Xcode is changing. I know many courses out there are outdated and the instructors don’t bother updating the material.

You get personalized support from me for learning the course material and I don’t limit you on time or number of questions asked. There’ve been times where I even personally record a video for a student simply to explain something or troubleshoot their course project.

I priced the course fairly, according to how much time and value I’m delivering and I know you’ll see it too when you’re enrolled!

Can I buy only one of the courses in the learning path?

Unfortunately not because both of them complete the learning path and there are times in the intermediate course where I refer to material that was taught in the beginner course and vice versa.

If you only have access to one of the courses, your learning will be incomplete.

Is there certificate upon completion?

I’ve bee a recruiter and interviewer for iOS developers before at my old consulting company and I can tell you that these types of certificates aren’t what we look at.

However, if you feel like you’d like it, I can create and issue one for you upon completion of the courses.

Do I need a Mac?

Yes, you’ll need a Mac that is capable of running the latest MacOS (Sierra) because Xcode only runs on Macs and often requires the latest OS.

Xcode is the piece of software that Apple provides developers to build apps for their platforms.

Xcode is free and can be downloaded from the Mac App Store.

Does your course cover topic X?

Unfortunately it’s impossible for me to cover everything in the iOS SDK (software development kit) in just these two courses.

That’s why I’ve designed this learning path to cover the essentials for building any sort of app and when you come out of it, you’ll be equipped to find tutorials for the exact topic you need. You’ll be able to understand and integrate any tutorials you find into your own Xcode project.

Without the solid foundation that this course gives you, even if you find tutorials on a topic you need for your app, you won’t be able to understand and apply it.

My Personal Guarantee

I’ve been in your situation before. I tried to learn iPhone programming by reading a 400 page book and as dry as it was, I actually made it through but I realized that I still didn’t know how to build an app!

Three years later of building iPhone apps for clients at my consulting job, I discovered a passion for teaching and I remembered how difficult it was when I tried to learn.

Now it’s my mission to make it as easy as possible for anybody to pick up the fundamentals of making an app and this course is my vehicle to do that.

1. Video lessons allow you to see exactly what I’m seeing.

2. I help you understand the intricacies of creating an app so that you’re NOT just blindly following directions.

3. Everybody learns differently. I’ll personally answer any questions you have about the course material and address your personal knowledge gaps.

So if you’ve ever wanted to learn how to make an iPhone app, here’s your best opportunity!

See you inside,
Chris Ching
